The John Connell and Melville Glades Reserves comprise of 122 hectares of important public open space in the eastern part of the City of Melville. The area is highly valued by local and regional communities for its environmental values and the many social benefits it provides through passive and active recreational opportunities.

element was appointed as the lead consultant for the Master Planning process. Element Advisory is providing urban design and planning elements of the project. This also involved comprehensive engagement with community, stakeholder and Aboriginal groups. Key considerations included consulting with existing sporting and community groups that currently utilise the site and the existing facilities. The draw for the John Connell Reserve is wide and covers several local government areas with a variety of user groups to consider. In addition, the site also contains a previous landfill site and remnant bushland to b considered.
