Jandakot Airport is the only general aviation airport in the Perth metropolitan region and one of the busiest airports in Australia in terms of aircraft movements. The airport operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week providing facilities for tourism, pilot and aviation training, general aviation, services to the resource and pastoral sectors and important emergency services such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Police Air Wing, RAC Rescue Helicopter and WA Department of Fire and Emergency Services bushfire response.
In accordance with the Commonwealth’s Airports Act 1996, a master plan is required to be prepared to guide the future development of over Jandakot Airport over the next 20 years. Element Advisory has assisted Jandakot Airport Holdings (JAH) in an ongoing capacity since 2008, in preparing and obtaining Commonwealth Government approvals for the Jandakot Airport Master Plans 2009, 2014 and 2019.
The Master Plans provide for the creation of a sustainable balance of aviation facilities, non-aviation mixed business development opportunities and the retention of bushland on the airport estate. Our engagement has involved significant consultation with key stakeholders including Commonwealth, State and Local Governments, aviation users and local community and interest groups, in addition to public advertising and review of the master plans in light of comments received.
Preparation of the Master Plans involves balancing a wide range of aviation and non-aviation considerations and constraints to identify the suitable and optimum areas for future development. The Master Plan seeks to recognise and improve the environmental outcomes on the airport estate, through identification and protection of areas of environmental significance, and through continual monitoring and management of onsite activities.
