Situated at the gateway to Fremantle, Liv is a contemporary and affordable development under construction in Fremantle’s emerging East End. Fronting Queen Victoria Street and Quarry Street, the high amenity location is only a short distance from Fremantle’s iconic shops, restaurants and Fishing Boat Harbour precinct. The development is a catalyst for revitalisation of the ‘new Freo’– a rapidly developing new precinct anchored by quality heritage development and in close proximity to a range of local amenity.
It has been developed in line with One Planet Living (OPL) principles – ensuring health, equity, culture, transport, economic and sustainability implications are all considered in equal measure.
Working with DHA, the project design team and the City of Fremantle, Element Advisory sought and obtained the necessary planning approvals and defined the place making and Community Development Plan (CDP) for Liv apartments. The CDP was founded on the key platforms of:
- Education and communication;
- Governance and community building; and
- Programming and activation.
Key planning approvals were obtained efficiently and on time. This included navigating the City of Fremantle design review process, obtaining separate approvals for modified ground levels to increase permitted development height and managing the condition setting and clearance process in order to fast track delivery. We also provided implementation advice on aspects of the CDP, including:
- Local community partnerships program: events, celebrations, co-designed mural; and
- Liv residents/workers community building upon move-in: developing welcome packs, ‘Liv Well’ social network, sustainable living courses.
