Cockburn Quarter represents the next stage of urban expansion at Cockburn Gateway Shopping City. The $1 billion project will be developed over four stages and create a new urban precinct for Cockburn. Stage 1 of the mixed use project includes additional retail, cinemas, dining, entertainment, child care and public spaces. Later stages will expand the shopping centre as well as creating a residential precinct, professional offices and further public amenities.
The Cockburn Quarter design and composition is based on extensive community consultation to ensure the design meets community needs and expectations. As a part of the first stage of development Perron will fund and develop a pedestrian bridge over Beeliar Drive, providing an additional connection to the expanded Cockburn Central Train Station.
Element Advisory has been involved in the project for an extended period of time, facilitating a local structure plan amendment and contributing to an extensive master planning process in the preceding years to facilitate the Cockburn Quarter development application.
The development application provided a comprehensive planning assessment, coordination of technical consultant input and was supported by a Place Activation and Management Plan prepared by Element Advisory. In association with Buchan Group Architects, Element Advisory managed the planning approval process through the State Development Assessment Unit (SDAU), in consultation with a range of relevant stakeholders.
